We envision a world in which girls’ interest in STEM is nurtured, celebrated, and valued
There are three key factors that help promote interest and excitement around STEM activities in young girls. Our affordable, research-based program combines these three elements to begin cultivating a positive STEM identity for girls.
EARLY EXPOSURE
Girls can’t become excited about something if they aren’t exposed to it! Although there has been significant advancement in education and promotion of STEM activities for girls, women still hold only 24% of STEM jobs in the U.S. 1 Studies show that girls enjoy STEM activities but about 4 in 10 girls say they don’t get enough practical experience.2 Many existing programs focus on high school age girls when interest in these fields has already declined. 
Our program focuses on 3rd-5th grade girls and lets them work through fun, hands-on science and engineering challenges that will excite and expose them to the fields of STEM. Our goal is to introduce girls to STEM activities and give families the tools to continue to pursue further opportunities to develop a STEM identity for your daughters.
PARENT ENGAGEMENT
Want to expose your daughter to STEM activities but not sure how to get started? Our Parent-Daughter workshops encourage family learning by working side-by-side with your daughter to solve fun STEM challenges. This is not the time to sit back and watch! Parents (or other adult caregivers) play a key role in their daughter’s developing interests in science and engineering. A recent Girl Scouts of America study found that high school girls interested in STEM have more career support from parents, family members, teachers, and friends.3 
Many parents, especially those not formally educated in STEM fields, feel unequipped or unsure of how to educate and expose their daughters in these fields. Our program is a great introduction for both parents and girls to show that STEM activities can be fun and don’t require a lot of equipment or costly kits. Our goal is to get both parents and girls excited about STEM by encouraging you to work together.
POSITIVE FEMALE MENTORS
Ever wonder what a scientist or engineer actually does? We all know what doctors and teachers do, but many girls and their parents have no idea what types of careers women in STEM professions hold. A lack of female role models or mentors is a key deterrent for girls when thinking about pursuing careers in science or engineering. According to a recent Microsoft study, 60% of girls surveyed admitted they would feel more confident pursuing a career in STEM fields if they knew men and women were equally employed in those professions.4 Our program allows girls to meet women working in various STEM careers. The mentors will share how they got excited about STEM and what they do in their jobs as scientists and engineers. Our goal is to show parents and girls the wide range of exciting and rewarding careers women in STEM hold.
Our program aims to break the barriers that typically hold young girls back from developing an interest in science and engineering. We believe everyone can STEM Like a Girl!
