This week’s Wednesday’s Women in STEM Series features the fabulous Mentors from our June Parent-Daughter Workshop. These women volunteered their time to help lead activities, guide participants through Design Challenges, and speak to the girls about their backgrounds and experiences in STEM.
The women in our STEM Mentor Panel had broad backgrounds and career paths including:
- Assistant Professor in Biomedical Engineering at OHSU
- Civil Engineer with KPFF Portland Structural
- Deployment Engineer with Amazon Robotics
- Electrical and Computer Science Engineer with Intel
- Members of the Wilson High School Robotics Team
While answering questions during the mentor panel, they talked about the challenging aspects of their jobs, being a women in STEM, how they use creativity and writing in their jobs, and what they love most about being a scientist or engineer. We were so inspired by their stories and are thankful they shared their expertise with our girls!
